AK Institute of Ophthalmology is a pioneer in 3D retinal detachment surgeries. We provide different treatments like-
Photocoagulation: This treatment uses a laser to seal abnormal blood vessels in the retina, which can cause conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
Cryopexy: Also known as freezing, this procedure involves putting a freezing probe on the surface of the eye which causes a scar that helps keep the retina intact.
Scleral buckling: This surgery involves sealing the retinal tear by placing a silicone band around the eye to hold the retina in place and sealing the tear with a laser.
Vitrectomy: This surgery helps remove the vitreous by using the laser to seal all retinal tears and placing a bubble of gas, oil, or air to help the retina stay intact.
Pneumatic retinopexy: This procedure is used in minor detachments. It involves inserting some fluid in the eye with the help of a needle, injecting a small air bubble into the eye, and then waiting for the retina to move back into place as you repair any tears with the help of Photocoagulation or Cryopexy.
Cataract leads to a clouding in your lens which makes your vision blurry and is a common cause of blurry vision after a certain age. However, blurry vision can be a symptom of several eye diseases such as Glaucoma, Age-related Macular Degeneration, Dry eye, Myopia, etc. It is important to schedule a consultation with your Ophthalmologist to determine the right cause behind your blurry vision.
LASIK surgery is often done to change the shape of your cornea to correct your number fully. However, every individual’s healing past the surgery is different, which leads to a slight chance of a very small number. Though it doesn’t require glasses to correct it.

We visited the hospital for my mother’s eye surgery for (retina detachment) and everything went smoothly and can simply say it was the best decision we took. The matters of eye are intricate and I personally don’t think any other place would’ve handled the case with such ease. From scheduling the surgery, to operation to post op care, all was great. This is not just my opinion but almost every other patient we came across and spoke to. Dr Atul a big thanks to you and your team for helping thousands of people see things again.
Overall, the ambiance is good. However, the only thing I feel is lacking is the reception area lighting, which is very bright. It was irritating for my dad and some other patients as well. As an eye center, the interior should be dimmer. Just a genuine suggestion.
Couple of things I ddnt appreciate- admonishing the previous doctors & condemning them. Quoting different prices by staff for the same treatment or tests. Creating anxiety & urgency for treatment. Patient needs to absorb and think and decide.
